Fooocus is a prompt-first local image UI. Official host we opened on 2026-10-19: lllyasviel/Fooocus (GPL-3.0, 53,608 stars, 8,663 forks, created 2023-08-09). Last push 2025-12-01. It hangs off Midjourney alternatives.

The README tagline is “Focus on prompting and generating.” That is a UX claim, not a Midjourney quality score.

Activity caveat

Unlike ComfyUI (pushed 2026-10-19), Fooocus had no 2026 push in this check. We still list it because people search Fooocus vs Midjourney. We do not list it as the most recently maintained local UI.

FAQ

Is Fooocus a Midjourney alternative?

People search it that way because the UI is prompt-first. It is GPL-3.0 local software that loads SDXL-class checkpoints, not Midjourney’s hosted model. See Fooocus vs Midjourney.

Is Fooocus still maintained?

The 2026-10-19 GitHub API check shows 53,608 stars and last push 2025-12-01T19:17:07Z. It is not archived, but it is not a 2026 weekly-commit tree. ComfyUI was pushed the same day as this check.

Fooocus vs ComfyUI?

Fooocus is a simpler Gradio-style prompt UI. ComfyUI is a node graph with a same-day 2026-10-19 push. We have no quality ranking. Both hang off Midjourney alternatives.
